I am currently in the process of creating a new project, called Cozy Library, accessible in the future through the URL https://cozylibrary.eu.

Summary

Cozy Library will be a EU-based, fully GDPR-compliant webnovel publishing platform. At first, it will be offered as a hosted solution, and self-hosting will be explored later down the line once the product matures enough. Its source will be available on GitHub for inspection.

Product Details

It will include built-in writing and publishing tools, including a WYSIWYG editor.

The main focus will be on webnovels and short stories. Chapters will be grouped into books, which will be connected for various users for convenient reading and sharing.

A robust tagging system will be implemented, along with a tag-, text- and user-based search.

Compared to other publishing solutions, it will focus purely on original content, namely excluding fanfiction. It will also offer a more modern, minimalist experience to keep the focus on writing.

Technical Details

The backend will be written in Swift. Frontend details will be decided later; currently, Tailwind is a possible candidate, as well as Typescript. The backend will be handled through Vapor.

Data will be securely hosted on a European server.

Logins will be handled mainly through modern solutions such as PassKeys, with securely-stored passwords as another possibility.

Currently, the product is in very early stages of development, as my Vapor skills are still not that great.

Imports of MD-based documents will be considered in the future.
